Architecture and software:
The main strategy of my approach is regarding systems
with respect to their abstract properties: structure, complexity, energy
.
Base on my research in the graph and order theory (and complex combinatorial
structures) and some AI techniques Im creating a new architecture
and Im starting coding a new software for exchanging concepts.
The project, has no single algorithm and knowledge representation at its
core, but relies for its very essence on a combination of graph algorithms
and representations.
The process of creation, organization and dispersal
of concepts is represented by weighted labeled hypergraphs and order relations
(as the edges of graph).
Chemical analogy. In a way process of creating and
organizing concepts as graph in FACE is parallel to building new chemical
structures by the automatic analysis of the different chemical connections
between elements. When a new chemical is formed, some elements fit each
other, while others dont.
Each concept has its own node in the graph, or is a configuration of several
nodes-ConceptGraph.
In first version of FACE sources and topics published
by the participants are represented at the edges of the graph, while the
nodes represent a system of tags used by participants while designating
the contents.
Each participant can
create and transform concepts and
upload, download sources and
to post messages, create topics and participate in discussions
to observe different statistics and metadata
Each participant can control his own ConceptGraphs, and can also navigate
among the ConceptGraphs of other participants.
Source material published through FACE is not restricted
in form - it could be: source code, software, text or any kind of multi-media
element, such as photos, graphics, video, messages etc. (please see the
specification of project)
The data which arises while working with this application
can have many different characteristics and parameters - such as time, place,
creation process, distribution, references - which can then be analyzed
and visualized as metadata.
Fuser can create a new concept in Add Concept area.
The creating the concept means building and organizing a ConceptGraph.
Downloading is possible from the Source place. You can choose to download
the file or multiple files in a compressed format, .zip or .tar.gz etc.
To work within FACE you will have to work with a host of media editors to
transform the files that you have downloaded.
You can upload files in the FACE Domain using the FACE web-based upload
interface. Basically this is done by transferring files to the FACE server
by FTP.
FACE uses statistical and graph algorithms to compare keywords to each other and uses the result of this to further position the relationships between the nodes in the space of the visualization and relationships between nodes as weighted edges. The weight of edge is higher if nodes are more connected and have more sources (codes, documents, media) i in their contents.
The FACE software is an extension of the original project
FLOAT commissioned by Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center
for details please see http://fundamental.art.pl/float_00.htm
The FACE software is also connected with my project SUPRAMIND: the long
term project supported by CEC ArtsLink and Texas University in Dallas.
